Release: The Kampot Sessions

These tracks were recorded in late 2011 and due to the way things go, we are just getting around to releasing them. We had a blast in Kampot, a great little town near the coast of Cambodia full of amazing musicians, artists and music lovers.

While you can download the tunes for free, consider giving a couple bucks or more. It will be put to great use.

All the funds we receive from the sale of these tunes go directly to support the scholarship program of Empowering Youth Cambodia(EYC). EYC is a great organization that fosters the growth and development of the next generation of leaders in Cambodia. Learn more at http://www.eycambodia.org

Long Time No See

So yeah, no posts, no updates. One might think that also means: no music, no gigs. You’d be sorely mistaken my friends. We had a fun spring and early summer (those seasons don’t exist in Cambodia, I’m just showing my northern hemisphere bias). We played around our favorite spots in Phnom Penh as well as some new favorite spots down in Kampot. What we did not do is update this space. Shame on us. But now we’re back and getting gigs lined up in the calendar, we have new members of the band, we have plans to tour, release some recordings, and just general acoustic merriment.  More information later on everything.

Now here’s a blast from the past. Watch, listen, tap your feet. From our Tuk Tuk Session.

We’ll be back in action on October 27th at Equinox in Phnom Penh!

Gigs this weekend (March 30th & 31st)

We are pumped to be playing two gigs this weekend!

This Friday the 30th we will be playing at a fundraiser for the 10th anniversary of the Ragamuffin Project. The proceeds from this fundraising event will go to support children, young people who suffer from trauma and psychological distress. This organization does great work in the field of arts therapy and also has an amazing space. Come check it out! Information on the event can be found here.

On Saturday the 31st at 9pm sharp we will be playing our first gig at Memphis. We will just be playing one set before their rocking house band takes the stage. Get there early because we’ll be done by 10:30 and we promise to have one super energetic set planned for all y’all.

*the additional information will be on the seeing the gig live wherever you are, not additional information on the internet, for the that please visit your local library.

Live at Bodhi Villa!

Grass Snake Union are on the road again and this time we’re hitting the beautiful river town of Kampot in the south of Cambodia.

We’ll be playing at Bodhi Villa on Friday night and there’s quite a crew of Phnom Penh heads coming down for the whole weekend. It should be lots of fun.

Grass Snake Union are sticking around on Saturday and Sunday to do some recording sessions in Hugh’s studio at Bodhi Villa.

It’s also the last weekend in Cambodia for one of our vocalists, Alex, so we’re going to make sure to have such a great time that he makes sure to get his ass back to Cambodia as soon as possible!
